Sept 14 2008

My son has a heart! He actually had his heart transplant on the 10th. We got the call that morning at 2:45am and he went in for his surgery at 2:15pm. He was done at 8:45pm or so. We got to see his bad heart after he was done. It was truly an amazing experience. More to come very soon!

August

So Hilary and I decided that i need to start a journal. What better way than the whole world being able to read my thoughts and feelings. Anyway. My son is waiting for a heart. What more can I say. He's been on the list for 1 month now. Words cannot describe the feelings of the unkown. How do you wish for a kid to die to save your kids life and the possibilty of my kid having to do the same thing 15-20 years down the road. This way sucks. Anyway........

Update

It's now July and we are back in the hospital. Alot has happened since the last time we updated. He is officially on the heart transplant list at 1A status. That is the highest level you can be on for a new heart which is good. He was placed on the list on the 14th of July, 2008. He is also a candidate for the Berlin Heart which would be a life support type situation if it comes to that. Pretty wild stuff. Anyway, we are doing well and everybody else is healthy and in good spirits. Enjoy!

June 19th, 2008

Hey there ya'll. We have been told that Daxton will be coming home on the 21st. Finally, he will be exactly 1 month old. He is eating and doing very well. The cardiologists say that he is looking ok as far as his heart stand point. Cardiologists love to tell it how it is. Daxton has some problems with his coronary arteries being on the right side of his heart. With his right side having the problems that it has, this could be a potentially fatal thing. Dr's love to let us know that this is a risk that we need to know about over and over again. It would be nice to have someone just say, he is going to be ok. That will never ever happen, but it would be nice. Anyway, we are looking forward to getting him home.

Friday the 13TH!

I can't believe that its already the 13th of June. Time flies by. Our kids are doing great being bounced around from place to place while Hilary and myself have been up at the hospital with our little Daxton. He is an old man now, an entire 3 weeks on saturday! He is doing well and is just working on his eating. I guess being a kid with a heart problem, eating is a big deal. It's like running a marathon then trying to eat a huge meal, hard work. Anyway, hopefully we will be getting hom home very soon. Then on to the next surgery. Wow, I hope this gets easier as time goes on. It is a tuff thing trying to keep it all together as a husband, father and breadwinner. Push through I guess.
